Appliance Removal: Refrigerators, Washers, Dryers & More

Old appliances are heavy, awkward, and can't just go in the trash. We haul them out and make sure they end up where they belong.

Big, Heavy, and Not Allowed at the Curb

A full-size refrigerator can top 250 pounds. A chest freezer that's been in the garage for fifteen years isn't light either, and neither is the cast-iron utility sink next to it. Most household trash services won't pick up large appliances. Many contain components that shouldn't go straight into a landfill, like refrigerant, compressor oil, and electronics. That's why appliance removal is one of the most common reasons homeowners and landlords call us.

Red Top Scoopers removes old appliances from homes, rentals, garages, and job sites throughout Cartersville, Bartow County, and the rest of our Northwest Georgia and Metro Atlanta service area.

Appliances We Haul

  • Refrigerators, side-by-sides, French-door fridges, and mini fridges
  • Chest freezers and upright freezers
  • Washing machines and dryers, including stacked units
  • Ovens, ranges, and cooktops
  • Dishwashers and over-the-range microwaves (once disconnected)
  • Water heaters, both tank-style and electric
  • Window AC units, dehumidifiers, and space heaters
  • Trash compactors, wine fridges, and ice makers

Before We Arrive: Disconnecting

For safety, appliances should be disconnected from gas, water, and hardwired electrical lines before we remove them. Most plug-in appliances like fridges, freezers, and electric dryers are easy to unplug. Gas ranges and gas dryers need the gas line properly shut off and capped. Water heaters need to be drained and disconnected. If you're replacing an appliance, the installer who brings the new one can usually disconnect the old one. If you're not sure, ask when you call or text and we'll talk through it.

Fridges and freezers should be emptied of food ahead of time. Trust us on this one, especially if the power's been off a while.

Why Appliance Disposal Matters

Refrigerators, freezers, dehumidifiers, and window AC units contain refrigerant. Federal rules require that refrigerant to be recovered properly rather than vented into the air. Large appliances are also mostly steel, so they're among the most recyclable things in your house. That's why we don't just toss old appliances in a landfill. We route them to scrap and recycling facilities that handle them properly whenever possible. Read more about how we approach recycling and donation.

Working Appliances

Got a washer that still runs fine but doesn't match your new dryer? A working fridge you replaced during a kitchen remodel? Working appliances can sometimes be donated or resold. If yours is in good shape, let us know and we'll try to keep it out of the scrap pile. Our guide on whether to sell, donate, or haul away covers when it's worth trying to sell an appliance yourself and when it isn't.

Landlords, Flippers, and Remodelers

If you manage rental properties or flip houses, appliances pile up fast. There's the dead dishwasher from Unit B, the range swapped out during the kitchen update, the fridge a tenant left behind. We regularly pair appliance pickup with construction debris removal and foreclosure cleanouts, so one trip handles everything.

Appliance Removal Pricing

Pricing depends on the number and type of appliances and how easy they are to reach. A garage fridge by the door is simpler than a basement chest freezer. Text a photo to 404-649-4654 for an upfront quote, or read how we price junk removal.
