Junk Removal FAQ

Do I Need to Be Home During the Pickup?

Often, no. Here's when it works to be away, when it's better to be there, and how to set up a no-contact pickup.

The Short Answer

Not always. If the items are accessible and we've agreed on exactly what's going and the price ahead of time, we can often complete the job without you there.

Why the Answer Changes Job to Job

Whether you need to be home depends on the situation:

When You Usually Don't Need to Be There

  • Curbside or outdoor items. A couch on the porch, a pile in the driveway, a brush pile in the yard, or items in an open carport.
  • Unlocked garages or sheds with clearly separated items.
  • Clearly defined jobs. "Everything in the garage goes" is easy to get right without you there.

When It Helps to Be There (or Have Someone There)

  • Items inside the home. We need a way in, which can be you, a family member, a neighbor, a lockbox code, or a property manager.
  • Mixed spaces. If some things are staying and some are going, it's important that we get it right. Clear labeling helps, and so does a quick walk-through.
  • Estate cleanouts. Families usually want to be present, at least at the start. See estate cleanouts.
  • Large or complex jobs where questions might come up on-site.

Setting Up a No-Contact Pickup

  1. Send photos of exactly what's going.
  2. Agree on a price by text or phone. See upfront pricing.
  3. Arrange access. Leave the garage open, share a door code, or tell us where to find the pile.
  4. Mark what's going. Tape, sticky notes, or "everything on the left side of the garage."
  5. Ask for photos when we're done if you'd like to see the finished space.

Landlords, Realtors, and Out-of-Town Families

This comes up a lot with:

  • Landlords and property managers turning over rentals
  • Realtors clearing a listing before photos
  • Out-of-town family handling a parent's home
  • Executors settling an estate from another state

In these cases we can usually coordinate access through a lockbox, a neighbor, a realtor, or a property manager.

Payment When You're Not Home

We'll go over payment options when you book, so it's handled smoothly whether you're on-site or not. See how to book.
